I know this won’t be popular, but here it goes… ⠀ If you’re not reading earnings reports, tracking cash flow, understanding valuation, or following the actual business behind the ticker, you probably shouldn’t be picking your own stocks. And that’s not me being rude, that’s me being real. ⠀ Index funds exist for a reason. But let’s be honest, most people don’t want to admit they’re better off with VOO. Instead, you get: ⠀ • “I do my own research” — aka watched 2 TikToks and read one Reddit thread • “It’s common sense” — until that ‘common sense’ stock drops 40% • “I trust my gut” — and yet the gut somehow never beats the S&P ⠀ Stock picking isn’t supposed to be easy. It’s a skill. And if you’re not willing to treat it like one, with time, effort, and actual research, then don’t be surprised when the results suck. ⠀ That’s not a diss. It’s a wake-up call. ⠀ So let’s settle this once and for all: 📌 Do you think most people should be picking their own stocks? or should they just stick to index funds and save themselves the headache? ⠀ Drop your honest take. I want to hear all the opinions. (Included my portfolio for credibility - i put in the work and the results speak for themselves)

This post is 🔥 and I couldn’t agree more with the message. Picking individual stocks can be rewarding, but it demands time, skill, and emotional resilience. Most people either don’t have the bandwidth or aren’t interested in treating it like a second job. And that’s okay! 👍 That’s why index funds exist. And even better, why all-in-one ETFs like $XEQT/$VEQT exist. You get global diversification, automatic rebalancing, and historically strong long-term returns without needing to track earnings reports or time the market. I am not anti-stocks. I am just pro-simplicity. If your goal is freedom and financial independence, then spending more time living and less time micromanaging your portfolio is a win. So no, I don’t think most people should pick their own stocks. They should pick a solid, diversified index fund or a one-ticket ETF, automate their contributions, and let time and discipline do the heavy lifting. 🏋️♂️ Let the stock pickers pick. Let the rest of us build quietly and consistently. 🔥

Investing is a personal choice, let’s leave it there for people to make their own choices on what they like or not like.

100% agree. Not only do people not do the research. Even if they did, 99% of them would get better returns picking ETFs.
